Vylor Joins S&P 500; Twilio Set for Index Addition
S&P Dow Jones Indices announced several index changes, including Vylor's immediate S&P 500 entry and Twilio's pending addition.
S&P Dow Jones Indices confirmed a series of constituent changes across its benchmark index family, with Vylor Inc. (NYSE: VYLR) joining the S&P 500 effective October 1, 2026, following a spinoff from existing S&P 500 member Corteva Inc. (NYSE: CTVA).
Vylor's entry into the large-cap benchmark was triggered automatically by the corporate action. When a current S&P 500 company completes a spinoff of sufficient size, the newly independent entity can be added directly to the index without the standard eligibility review process, reflecting the index committee's standard treatment of such transactions.

Twilio was separately announced as set to join the S&P 500, with its addition expected to follow standard index reconstitution procedures. Additional companies were slated to enter the S&P MidCap 400 and S&P SmallCap 600 as part of the same announcement, signaling broader reshuffling across the S&P index family that will require portfolio adjustments from passive funds tracking each benchmark.
Index additions carry significant market implications. Funds that passively track the S&P 500 and related benchmarks are required to purchase shares of newly added constituents, a dynamic that historically produces short-term price pressure on incoming stocks ahead of their effective inclusion dates. Traders and institutional investors typically position ahead of confirmed additions to capture anticipated buying demand.
S&P Dow Jones Indices periodically updates its benchmarks to reflect changes in the publicly traded corporate landscape, including mergers, spinoffs, bankruptcies, and shifts in market capitalization. Continue reading at All Financial Services & Investing.
